Hypepotamus: Another Useful Tool for the Atlanta Startup Community

Known for more than its unique and clever name, this startup resource has revolutionized the way Atlanta’s entrepreneurs connect and learn from each other. In 2012, experienced entrepreneurs Ashish Mistry, Heath Hyneman and Keith Wallace opened the doors of Hypepotamus, their startup co-working space in the basement of The Biltmore in Midtown. This summer, they left the space behind, (it will be filled by the new incubator Collider) but they continue to focus on their online non-profit publication hypepotamus.com. Recently updated, it publishes content about startups’ stories and upcoming events that impact the Atlanta community, keeping readers up-to-date and connected to what’s happening in the area.

The Hypepotamus website has multiple features that contribute to its role as an Atlanta startup news resource. With various tabs across the top of the site, readers can shift through different types of articles: stories of new startup companies, advice from and interviews with different entrepreneurs, upcoming events and contests in the area and more. In addition to these articles, the comprehensive events calendar includes seminars, meetups and general tech happenings in and around Atlanta. There’s also a Job Board on the website where startups can post any type of openings they have. The Hypepotamus social media presence is strong, and they have many connections with not only the startups in the area, but the incubators and capitalists that make up the thriving small business environment.

The newest feature of the updated site is the option to receive a weekly newsletter from the Hypepotamus team via email. If you choose this option, an email containing links to new articles on the site will be sent to your inbox every week along with links to the calendar and job board. This makes getting your daily dose of startup news one step easier!

No matter who you are - entrepreneur, investor or curious techie - the site is useful in staying current regarding Atlanta startup news and events. If you’re a startup, you can use the site for brand awareness by going to the Contact section and submitting a request to get mentioned. The job board encourages those looking to become involved in the Atlanta startup community and continues Hypepotamus’s theme of connecting locals to the growing Atlanta startup community. Hypepotamus adds yet another awesome component to the mix of resources that abound in Atlanta and make it one of the best places to start a business.
